RULES OF THE HUNT
First – Please read the monthly Welcome
Letter to make sure you know how many designs there are in total for all of the
sites where the design files are hidden. It will also tell you how many
designs to look for on each site. The Welcome letter is in the files area
of the DFH yahoo group and on the DFH site.
Second- There are Three Important dates to Remember with the Hunt
Passwords are Usually sent out by the 1st of the month
Full Zip Option Password & Links Are usually sent out by the 5th
Clue (if purchased) are usually sent out on the 15th of the month
To expedite our sending these to you be sure your email will accept
designfesthunt@gmail.com and dfhprojects@yahoo.com
Third –The next item to help you is the checklist that is developed and posted on the DFH (DesignFestHunt) yahoo group each month. You can easily open and save it on your own PC or print the file – it lists the names of all the designs to find for this month. It is in the files section of the DesignFestHunt yahoo group and comes in different formats – an Excel file and a text file for those who don’t have spreadsheet software. Also go to the Thread Chart of the Month on this site to see what designs you are looking for. Some Designs are just pictures with no number on the sites.
Fourth – learn how to decipher a file name -all of the designs are in zip files and all of the formats are in the zip file. The names of the design files give you information to assist you in tracking what designs you have found and what you have left to locate.
Here is an example of a design name – 1DAB21DECDFH –
The 1 – means this is the first collection or group of designs by this digitizer
The DAB – means the owner of this design is Designs and Bears
The 21 – means this is the 21st design for this owner hidden for the hunt, unless it is the second part of an alphabet where the first part was given in the previous hunt.
The DEC – this explains what month the hunt is from
The DFH – means this is the DFH hunt – some sites may have other hunts going and this part can change depending on the site
Fifth– some site owners may give you information at the beginning of the hunt. At the beginning of the month, check the sites for any information on the hunt. There may also be hints and help on the design sites so check on every site for more information.
ALSO – Site owners may have a separate hunt going on within their site. Some change the name of the files by the letters after the month. For example, 1DAB2JANSH – this file belongs to Designs and Bears – Store Hunt - which is only on her site . You can get more information about these hunts on each owner’s site.
Sixth–Start hunting, go slow and look in every possible place. You need to open every file. Run your cursor over the page looking for items that open. It is important that you keep the file names of the designs you locate. You should unzip the Designs frequently to be sure they all downloaded correctly. If you get an error go back to where you downloaded them and download again. If the file names go from 1CED01JANDFH TO 1CED26JANDFH – then it is easy to see if you are missing number 15 or 17 or any other number. Site owners may hide design files on their site(s). The site owner is in charge of hiding design files assigned to them, and have the choice of where and how to hide them. Keeping track of how many you found for each site will help you know how many are still hidden there.
Seventh: on the 15th of the month if you purchased the Clue List It will be sent to you in 3 formats for easy use.
Important Hint Help Information Any extra help on Clues will NOT be given on the Group. You may ask for extra help if you purchased the clue list at dfhprojects@yahoo.com
You need the file name to ask for a hint or clue
Finally, relax and have fun with the hunt.
Thank you for hunting with the Bears and Company!
