Design Fest Hunt History and Information
In October of 2007, I had a dream of helping other digitizers get some much needed assistance both with their websites and their Yahoo Groups. God laid this on my heart and the idea of a Community Wide hunt for embroidery designs was planted in my head and my heart.
I sent out emails to some of my friends who I thought might benefit from this idea and a number of them responded. We formed two groups, one for the hunters which is DesignFestHunt Yahoo Group and one for the Digitizers and our bear helpers. We worked hard and planned the first hunt which actually was put together quickly. The idea was formulated on October 18th and we did our first hunt on November 1st, 2007. The hunt was alot of work but we saw it take off quickly. Hunters loved it and we quickly saw all the groups grow, made friends along the way and the effort as worth the work involved.
I am not sure what I thought would happen when this idea was formed but I never dreamed it would be this successful. We have seen a great need for this hunt. The embroidery community consists of many parts, the digitizers, suppliers, clipartists and embroiderers alike are only a small segment of this awesome hobby we have.
Normally women do not work well together to get anything accomplished, but in this case it has never been an issue. The digitizers involved in this hunt are the most awesome group of people I have ever come across, we work very well together to get the job done and help each other out as much as possible with both the hunt and our personal website issues. The camaraderie between us is awesome to say the least. To me this has been the greatest benefit I have received from the hunt, no amount of money can give us true friends and these ladies are that not just with me but with each other. New members who join feel at home immediately, are welcomed with open arms by everyone involved, digitizers and bear cubs alike.
We have refined the hunt, have learned a lot as we went on to make things easier for everyone involved. As digitizers we are extremely busy with our websites and our own Yahoo groups so it was imperative we have helpful, cheerful moderators to assist the hunters. The bear cubs do an excellent job of this. Without the help of our bear cubs we could not put this hunt on. Those behind the scenes and those who answer questions, give hints, do the welcome letter and spreadsheet each month, their endless dedication to making this hunt a success is awesome. I will forever be grateful to everyone who has ever been a part of this awesome hunt.
So we are now into our fourth straight year and God has blessed us very richly. We want to welcome you to the largest hunt for machine embroidery designs on the world wide web. We the digitizers sincerely hope you will search our Yahoo Groups and our websites each month for the samples and sets we give away. Several of the sites have individual store hunts as well for you to participate in and group samples and hunts as well. So sit back, grab something to drink, get comfy and have some fun with us. Our mainstay in life is chocolate so occasionally you might find a chocolate piece hidden on our sites, but that is to give us energy when we need it, if you need it worse, help yourself, lol.
Remember to also shop at our websites, it is not just about free designs, we appreciate your support of our endeavors as well. Your support is essential in our continued ability to do this for you.
If you are a digitizer and are interested in joining with us in this hunt you can contact us at designfesthunt@gmail.com and we will be glad to provide you with more information. See the page on this website with more information about what is required of participants. It is work but it is also alot of fun. The rewards are awesome and it will bring you the same benefits it has to all of us.
Happy Hunting and we hope you will find this website very informational for you. Be sure to check the pages of all the participating websites, we actually have some free samples of designs even on this website for you.
